SITIIAS Overview (pdf 70MB)

Shanghai Inspection and Testing Institute of Instruments and Automatic Systems (hereinafter referred to as SITIIAS) was founded in 1960 as a subordinate establishment of Shanghai Institute of Process Automation Instrumentation (hereinafter referred to as SIPAI) and registered as an independent corporation in 2003. SIPAI was founded in 1956, belonging to the first class of scientific research institutes under the original Ministry of Machinery Industry. It has a long history and outstanding performance in technology research, quality inspection, trade service, standardization management etc. of industrial-process measurement and control instruments.

After 50 years’ development and construction, SITIIAS not only has common laboratories of explosion protection and safety, EMC, electrical safety, reliability and functional safety, climatic environmental test and mechanical environmental test, but also has professional laboratories of thermometry, displaying, flowrate, mechanical quantity (force, pressure), level, control valve, final controlling element, and system integration verification. It is a specialized setup mainly engaged in testing, calibration, verification and certification of industrial-process measurement and control instruments and systems, electric/electronic appliances, electric equipment for use in hazardous areas, marine instrument and equipment, electronic components of motor vehicles, inspection, assessment and supervision of explosion protection and safety of engineering projects, research and testing of functional safety (SIL) and reliability technology, research and development of testing equipment and technology, quality system auditing, and standardization of the instrument industry.
